Very occasionally a perfect day comes along when everything seems to fall into place and all is well with the world! The Big Summer Sing was one such day. The sun shone from a cloudless sky, 65 singers joined in the bluegrass, gospel workshop and Australian harmony singers, Salvation Jane Reunited lead three local choirs in a superb evening concert which treated a very appreciative audience to an eclectic mix of harmony singing featuring gospel, show stoppers and traditional folk song.
Held in the grounds of the delightfully atmospheric manor house at Donington le Heath, we couldn’t have wished for a better venue. They some how even managed to contrive a a hot air balloon fly pass just as the sun went down and the concert drew to a close! Now that is what I call organisation!
After a long day leading the bluegrass workshop, Salvation Jane Reunited were in fine voice for the Big Summer Sing concert treating the audience to a lively programme of bluegrass gospel music with the occasional divergence into balladry.
With an audience of well over 100, the atmosphere at the manor house was lively and exhilarating which encourage some of the crowd to join in with the better known songs!
Finishing with a grand finale of a mass sing by Salvation Jane Reunited and a scratch choir formed from the bluegrass workshop which took place earlier in the day, a perfect day ended on a perfect note!
